When to accept technical debt

The difference between deliberate debt and accidental complexity.

Technical debt isn't bad — unmeasured debt is. When the market window is narrow, deliberate debt is acceptable; but document what you owe and when you'll pay it back.

Set refactor triggers: deploy time, error rate, effort per feature. When debt accumulates, allocate sprint capacity instead of "we'll fix it someday."
